So good to hear from you! Congratulations on the 5000 words! Can't
wait to read Jose. I am stuck in the mode of the physical.

I began the summer by re-purposing my old trampoline (frame and top) into a
wonderful canopy to give us some shade. I cobbled the area under the
clothesline, and re-seeded the back 1/4 of my yard, worked out a low
impact fencing design (we get 70-100 mph winds, and my dog doesn't like the squeals of the little kids next door). I got a new furnace and water heater installed (just finishing that up) and took that "little" drive along I-90 to Michigan. (--From Colorado!) It's been a productive summer.

I am preparing to have my far-fetched-goal-of-a-party!!!!!

I am about to begin the construction of the studio, finally. After that bump to my head 8 years ago, my self-directed spatial therapy has been done in the form of fort building. I have had several forts over the years. Some have fallen down slowly, others gone in great gusts of wind. (I should write about that one!) I'm making a real one now: 2x6's and 4x4's, screws and hurricane ties. Me and my PHD (Post Hole Digger).

These letters to my friends (here) are the only writing I have done. And the posts for the topics. I'll give myself credit for those things. And in email: to contractors and representatives selling High Efficiency Appliances and representatives of the Energy Smart program. My email messages are always bigger than just business. I'm a challenging one.

The Art of the Short Story tugs on my heart and mind daily. Like the Pennsylvanian Folk artists, I know that winter is coming, and I have many things to do to prepare. In the interim, I plan, slowly.

I have read 4 of the first 5 stories (Anderson, Monro, Gordimer, and Wharton) and Falkner (A Rose for Emily) and maybe a couple more. I am inspired by those, yet exhausted by the demands of this physical summer.

Warm regards indeed. I will see what I can do to offer some structure on this website for the Reading and Writing Short Stories program.

Grace
